YouTube Campus Expansion was awarded Architect’s Newspaper 2024 Best of Design Award in the Landscape category!
The project is an ambitious endeavor in resilience and place making. Mirroring the experience users find on YouTube’s platform, the campus fosters community and culture with an ecological framework that seamlessly integrates the landscape and buildings. Employees enjoy a variety of spaces immersed in nature—featuring tiered seating and site furniture made from Youtube’s recycled eucalyptus trees—to collaborate, recharge, dine, and gather. The landscape cultivates sustainability with low carbon and sequestering materials, recycled mass timber, and native California planting. It adds acres of woodland and native planting areas such as monarch butterfly and pollinator gardens—promoting biodiversity and providing habitat for mammals, insects and birds.
